Decontamination Shelter – Greater Southeast Community Hospital

Project Description: Shelters Direct was contracted to furnish and install an 8’x32′ decontamination shelter to be used adjacent to the Emergency Room area in the event of a biological or chemical terrorism attack. The shelter system was manufactured by Shelters Direct and our staff participation in this design build project included the following tasks:

  • Coordinated layout of proposed site
  • Prepared engineered drawings
  • Excavated and installed concrete foundation, retaining wall, and handrail assembly
  • Installed all plumbing (water lines, wash down showers, backflow preventer, & drain lines
  • Installed 2500 gallon containment storage tank fed from floor drains
  • Provided all required power and electric (lighting, heating, tank alarms)
  • Unloaded and installed shelter assembly
